LOCAL PHYSICIANS BUILDING NEW EMERGENCY FACILITY IN ROUND ROCK

Five Star ER brings expert emergency care, shorter wait times, and comfortable environment

Austin, TX – Beginning this winter, there will be a new place for emergency care in Round Rock: Five Star ER.

This freestanding emergency room will offer the same high-quality medical care patients would find in a

traditional hospital-based emergency room, but in a comfortable, friendly setting with personal attention.

Five Star ER’s Round Rock location will be at 1700 Round Rock Avenue (RM 620), about one mile west of Interstate 35. Construction began May, 2014 with an anticipated opening in January, 2015. The 9,200 square-foot facility will offer 11 exam rooms including two trauma rooms; x-ray, CT and ultrasound services; and board-certified emergency physicians on duty at all times.

“We like to describe our new facility as quality emergency care wrapped in a package of personal service—with a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere,” says Dr. Brian Aldred, the medical director of the new emergency center.

Five Star ER is owned by Emergency Service Partners (ESP), a physician-owned group that has provided emergency medical care in Central Texas emergency rooms for more than 25 years. Like any hospital ER,

Five Star ER will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

“Since the majority of all ER visits nationwide occur at night and on weekends, we will be open for any emergencies that occur when a regular physician’s office is usually closed,” says Dr. Aldred.

The board-certified emergency physicians can treat all the regular emergencies that would normally be seen in a hospital emergency room, such as abdominal pain, fever, asthma and respiratory problems, sports injuries, headaches, kidney stones, and pneumonia.

“Our physicians will coordinate with the patient’s primary care physician after the ER visit to make sure the physician has all medical records of the emergency visit,” explains Dr. Aldred.

“In cases that require a visit to a specialist, such as an orthopedist for a complex sports injury follow-up, the Five Star ER staff will make the appointment for the patient. Our goal is to reduce some of the anxiety and stress that naturally accompany a visit to the emergency room, particularly since 85 percent of all emergency room visits do not require hospital admission.”
